Security developments in West Asia over the past two decades reflect a profound transformation in the nature of conflicts among regional actors. One of the most significant manifestations of this transformation is the trend of the Zionist regime’s hybrid warfare against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has gradually shifted from covert and proxy confrontation in the early 2000s to direct and overt confrontation. The central question of this study concerns how the patterns, instruments, and strategic logic of the Zionist regime’s hybrid warfare against the Islamic Republic of Iran evolved between 2000 and 2025. The significance and necessity of this research stem from the fact that a substantial portion of the existing literature has either remained limited to episodic and scenario-based analyses or focused exclusively on one dimension of warfare—hard, soft, or cognitive—while rarely examining the conflict in an integrated and longitudinal manner. Employing the theoretical framework of “hybrid warfare” and a descriptive-analytical method, this study examines the historical trend and the field, cyber, intelligence, and media developments of the confrontation and divides it into five distinct phases. The findings indicate that the Zionist regime’s hybrid warfare against the Islamic Republic of Iran has maintained a consistent strategic logic while its instruments have evolved from proxy warfare and deniable operations to technological sabotage, targeted assassinations, AI-driven cognitive warfare, and ultimately direct military strikes. The overall conclusion is that the boundary between covert and overt war in this conflict has gradually eroded, and hybrid warfare has become a structural and enduring model in the security confrontation between the two parties.
