Our thinking about the world begins with conceptualization, and the semantic dimensions of concepts are shaped within temporal and spatial contexts. Studying concepts reveals that they possess a complex, multi-layered structure. On the one hand, concepts emerge within a network of ideas, arise from everyday experiences, and transform over time. On the other hand, these transformations are influenced by three fundamental factors: historical trends, which leave no concept untouched; social functions, which change in interaction with societal needs; and cultural contexts, through which each society redefines concepts. Historical experience has shown that no vision of the future formed on the basis of the past can prepare us to confront the present. This indicates that any effort in futures studies must involve a deep understanding of conceptual changes. This study, which focused on scientific research on conceptual transformation conducted over the past decade, shows that key concepts have undergone fundamental changes over time and that these transformations have had a direct impact on institutional and social structures. The findings also emphasize the importance of understanding conceptual transformations for adapting to future changes and reveal the dynamic relationship between past, present, and future in the formation of concepts. The results of this study can contribute to improving our understanding of social change processes, making more accurate predictions of future trends, and designing more effective strategies for addressing future challenges
