Abstract

By creating value for society, social entrepreneurship both provides solutions to social problems and seeks to increase personal wealth. In this study, scenario planning was used to develop recommendations for social entrepreneurship in Iranian society. To identify the drivers, in-depth interviews were conducted with 13 experts who had scholarly work or relevant lived experience in the field of social entrepreneurship. At this stage, judgmental and purposive sampling was used, and sampling continued until theoretical saturation was reached. Regulatory rules and market size were identified as key drivers, while government size was identified as an influential driver. Foreign policy, political and civil liberties, administrative corruption, government support, financial support, and labor force efficiency were located in the independent zone. The dependent drivers included economic risk, foreign investment, the educational system, technological infrastructure, the culture of social entrepreneurship, the business environment, the social issues management system, research and development transfer, and private-sector support; these drivers were located in the dependent zone.
