Abstract

Examining the relationship between religion and civilization is rooted in the nature of these two categories. In the first definition of religion, in a general approach, the absolute idea and thinking in the field of man, the world, morality, happiness and human perfection are considered religion, and in this sense, all divine and non-divine religions, human schools and even satanic rituals are also considered religion. According to this approach, religion will definitely have a relationship with civilization, but its limits, whether it is a builder of civilization or a part of civilization, will depend on the characteristics, teachings and worldview of that religion. The general view about religion considers the element of sanctity and belief in the sacred to be necessary in the definition of religion; In a special view of religion, religion includes the belief in the creator of the universe, whether it is a monotheistic or polytheistic belief. Finally, a more specific view believes in a single creator for the world, and Abrahamic religions are the modern manifestation of this view. Historical considerations in religious civilizations show that religion is not only related to civilization, but also the main essence of these civilizations. So that it has made an impact in all areas of civilization and has marked the difference between civilizations. The relationship between religion and civilization occurs through the category of culture. Now, if this religious idea expands so much that it can conquer geography and other cultures, it will lead to civilization.
